Dji Assistant 2 For Mac
Updating the firmware on your DJI Ronin-S is something you should do straight out of the box. There is most likely going to be a firmware update for your Ronin, and getting the latest will save you a lot of headaches and allow you to get the best footage possible! DJI is releasing firmware for new cameras as well as stability fixes every few months it seems, so being able to quickly upgrade (or downgrade Ronin-S firmware) is something you should become familiar with.
DJI Assistant 2 v1.2.4 (2018–05–16) — Primary installer to get you going. HoRNDIS v9.1 — (Optional) This driver add-on allows your MACOSX to communicate with your drone. Basically, there is a workable installer that comes together with the DJI Assistant 2 installer.
1. Download Ronin-S Software
Download the Ronin-S software for your operating system from the DJI site here, and run the installer and open the 'DJI Assistant for Ronin' on your machine.

- The DJI Assistant 2 software has plenty more features than updating the Mavic firmware. The DJI Assistant 2 Mavic software can be used to upload data, analyze black box logs, calibrate sensors, modify the Mavic and simulate flight. 2. Attach & Power On
Plug in your Ronin-S to your computer via the USB-C port on the front of the Gimbal. Power the Ronin-S on by pressing and holding the battery first (the lower one, by the tripod/extended grip) and then press and hold the power button on the top/side of the gimbal (by the joystick/record button).
3. Install Firmware update on DJI Ronin-S

With the Gimbal on, software open, select the 'UPGRADE' button next to the latest firmware at the top of the list. My Ronin-S gimbal needed multiple upgrades! It was running 1.5.0.40 when I received it, and it took about 5 minutes to update the firmware to 1.7.0.60.
If you have multiple upgrades available, selecting the latest version will get you all of the latest firmware updates. You don't have to install each of them individually - just install the latest version and you're good to go!
Conclusion
I know this isn't the most exciting article, but it is one that I needed to write - because the documentation from DJI isn't the greatest for this. The process isn't that difficult once you know where to download the software and set it up, but it's one of those things that you should be familiar with. Now if you need to upgrade, downgrade or for some reason refresh your Ronin-S firmware in the future - it will be a breeze!
